Resume Writing
Your resume is your first marketing tool to a potential employer. The purpose of the resume is to persuade an employer to interview you. In addition, developing a resume as soon as you begin college is an excellent way to clearly identify gaps in skills and experiences and create an effective career plan to achieve your career goals. You will want to do the following to have the best quality resume:
- Narrow down your job search (the most effective resume is targeted to specific career fields)
- Research the qualifications which employers seek (this will help you determine what to emphasize in your resume)
- Analyze your past experiences to determine in what ways you have demonstrated some or most of the desired qualifications
If you are a Metropolitan College participant, needing to complete your CAPP resume requirement, please refer to your MyMC page for instructions and next steps.
Resume Review via Email (for JCTC Students)
Use the Crew Career Center’s Online Resume Review service to receive feedback on your emailed resume within 2 business days. - Submit your resume as a Microsoft Word document (.doc, .docx) or Rich Text Format document (.rtf) as an attachment. If you submit your resume with another file extension, you will be asked to resubmit the draft.
- Feedback will be sent once; if you have additional questions or need additional help, please visit one of our offices.
- Resume feedback will not be stored by our staff. Be sure to save the document with feedback to a USB drive and bring that document into our office if you need additional assistance.
