DISCOVER Career Assessment

Welcome JCTC students. This page is intended for students who have been assigned by their instructor to complete the DISCOVER Career Assessment. If you have not been assigned a DISCOVER user ID by your instructor, please contact him/her before going any further. If you have been assigned a user ID, please complete each of the following steps in order.


Step 1: Getting Started

(estimated time to complete – 11 min.)

This module will introduce you to the importance of career planning and will provide log-on instructions for completing the DISCOVER career assessment. Begin Module 1

Step 2. DISCOVER Instructions

(estimated time to complete – 1 min.)

Print the DISCOVER log-on instructions (pdf) before going to step 3.

Step 3: DISCOVER Assessment (opens new window)

(estimated time to complete – 20-30 min.)

DISCOVER is a career assessment created and updated by ACT. Upon taking the assessments, you will hopefully have a clearer idea of how your interests, abilities, and values connect with academic programs and careers. Begin DISCOVER Assessment

Step 4: DISCOVER Results and Research

(estimated time to complete – 8 min.)

This module will show students how to interpret their DISCOVER results and how to research occupations on the program. Begin Module 4

Step 5: Career Research

(estimated time to complete – 1 min.)

Print and complete the Career Research Using DISCOVER worksheet (pdf) before going to Step 6.

Step 6: Next Steps

(estimated time to complete – 6 min.)

This module provides important websites and campus resources that will assist students in academic and career exploration. Begin Module 6 then review Career Planning and Student Services Websites (pdf)

Step 7: Final Survey

(estimated time to complete – 5 min.)
